Visitatcion Carpio Dumlao was born on July 13, 1925 in Gamu, Isabela, Philippines into a family of 5 with 2 siblings. She lived through the hardships of World War II in 1942 as a young adult. She received her Bachelor’s in Education at Ilocos Norte Normal School and served as an Elementary School teacher for 36 years from 1948-1984.
Visitatcion married Timoteo Dumlao, Sr. on November 12, 1949 and built their family of 6 children. In 1983, she immigrated to the United States to join her family. She worked at Taco Bell for 5.5 years and was awarded Employee of the Month. On her time off work, she joined the Fil-Am Cultural Group of San Diego where she taught senior citizens Filipino folk dances. She was an avid sewist and taught all her grandchildren how to play her favorite game, mahjong. After she retired from Taco Bell, she became a full time grandparent and helped take care of her 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She enjoyed traveling the world and exploring cities all over the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She took multiple trips to Hawaii with her family to celebrate her 90th and 95th birthday.
Visitatcion was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who is very loved and will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.
