Valentina was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her late husband Antonio T. Cruz, on May 5, 1953, in Newport, Rhode Island. They eventually settled in San Diego and had 9 children. She is survived by 6 of her children Gracie Golembiewski, Peter Cruz, Robert Cruz, Lori Sinclair, Darlene Cruz and Corina Wagner and preceded in death by 3, Gloria Saldivar, Tony Cruz Jr. and Joe Cruz.
She was an amazing housewife, always taking care of her family. “Valley” as she was often called by friends and family, was known to be outspoken and feisty. In her younger days, she loved dancing and would often be seen cutting a rug at the Guam Club. She loved crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and loved to play the slots. She was strong in her faith and was a devout catholic.
Valentina has 18 grandchildren. She is survived by Hector Saldivar II, Andreana Saldivar, Lonnie Saldivar, Tina Byers, Alisha Whitehill, Elaina Juarez, Alexis Cruz, Peter Cruz II, Brandi Cruz, Jaida Sinclair, Alana Sinclair, Sean Cruz-Colatriano, Braden Wagner, Jake Wagner, Ben Wagner, Bella Wagner and Savanah Wagner, and preceded in death by Anthony Saldivar.
Valentina is also survived by her 15 great-grandchildren: Hailey Saldivar, Jesi Ramos, Brandon Saldivar, Lily Saldivar, Marcus Byers, Trace Whitehill, Alex Cruz, Dominic Tufi, Joshua Juarez, Jasmine Juarez, Anthony Cruz, Peter Cruz III, Laylani Leake, Jaylen Cruz, and Joey Garduno.
A visitation for Valentina will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 2643 Homedale Street, San Diego, CA 92139. A graveside service will occur Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121.
