Tim lovingly served as a licensed Deacon and Council President to his church. A lifelong reader, he was an avid patron of the public library as well as steward of an ever-growing home library. He also enjoyed 'walks in the woods' and day hiking. An adaptable man, Tim made multiple career changes by necessity and earned two associate's degrees by taking evening classes as a non-traditional adult learner. Well into his 60s, he took up a new hobby of cooking and earned a reputation for delicious results. Tim is remembered for his hospitality, warmly welcoming his future daughter- and son-in-law as family, serving as a foster parent, and hosting countless young people for meals and a place to stay, whether they were visiting exchange students, servicemen and women on holiday, or friends passing by on school breaks.
He is survived by his children Aaron (Yoko) Hahn of Fukuoka, Japan and Sarah (Wes) Miksa of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Mirabel and Cora Miksa; and siblings Patrick (Madeline) Hahn, Tom (Gretchen) Hahn, and brother-in-law Rick Hlavka.
He was preceded in death by his wife Susan; his parents, Walter and Virginia; his in-laws James, Loretta, and Lynn; his sister Sandra Hlavka; and his sisters-in-law Christine Hahn, Laurie Kosovich, and Debbie Gehrke.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday August 13, 2023 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, CA.
