Sharon Evelyn Ostrander passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2015 after a brief illness. Sharon was born in Berwyn, Illinois on August 8, 1942 to Evelyn and Edward Hayes. She thoroughly enjoyed life in the Chicago suburb. In 1957 the Hayes family moved to the San Diego area and settled in Lakeside. Although Sharon wasn't thrilled to leave her many friends in Berwyn, she came to love the San Diego weather and lifestyle. In her teens, Sharon was a beauty queen and was once princess in the Mother Goose Parade. In 1959 she met her husband to be, Ken Ostrander Sr. Sharon's brother had introduced them and they married in 1968, bought a small home in El Cajon, and filled it with love for their two children, Ken Jr. and Philip Thomas, who were born in the early seventies. She was proud to be a homemaker and her children enjoyed her constant attention. Sharon loved attending her children's school events and athletic endeavors. For many years Sharon worked as a volunteer, then as an employee of Meals On Wheels. Delivering meals to elderly and disabled people warmed her heart. Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband Warren Kenneth Ostrander in 2006, her father Edward T Hayes Sr in 2013. She is survived by her two children, Warren Kenneth Jr (Jill-Ann), Philip Thomas, her mother Evelyn Dorothy Hayes, her brother Edward T Hayes Jr (Julie), her niece Diane Hayes Haney (Mark), her nephew Edward Hayes III, and great nieces and their children. She will be remembered fondly by her many friends, including those at The Church of St. Luke in El Cajon, CA, where she enjoyed Saturday evening mass and her Wednesday evenings with the ladies of her small church group. Sharon will be interred at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego. The viewing and graveside service will be Friday, September 18, 2015.
