Dr. Russell J. Crider, Jr., of St. Charles, MO, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 82 in San Diego, CA. Loving husband to his devoted wife of 34 years, Coleen Crider. Cherished, doting father to two daughters, Katie (Jake) Schloetter, and Tiffany (Beto) Jackson. Treasured son of the late Jane and Russell Crider, Sr.; brother of the late William, and Michael (Leslie) Crider and uncle to Amanda, Jen and the late Philip. Proud grandfather to Emersyn and Jackson.
Dr. Crider graduated from Carleton College in 1964. After, he received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1968 Dr. Crider was a pioneer in children’s orthopedics. He developed techniques fundamental in the treatment of clubfoot among other disorders over the course of his nearly 45 year career.
Russ was a real-life superhero, not only to his family and friends, but to many of his patients, who described him as an “angel on earth.” The lives of many children were drastically changed for the better by Dr. Crider’s brilliant mind, compassionate heart of gold, and skilled hands in the operating room.
Dr. Crider was generous, kind, funny, gentle, humble, and a genuinely patient person. He had a love for golf, tennis, adventure, travel, reading, animals, chocolate, and loved his family and friends unconditionally. He also loved to watch Jeopardy and always impressed everyone with his seemingly endless knowledge.
