jenny and family, i am so sadden by the word of rodgers death.  he was a wonderful cousin to me when we spent summers together as kids.  i am so glad we got to see you in recent years,  i'm sure you have many happy memories and the pictures depict such a loving family.  i talked to cindy last night and will call you again as i know how long the hours can be after losing my life partner bruce.  love suzanne colledge (st. thomas on. canada)

Dear Jenny - We were so saddened on hearing of Rodgers passing.  We were so glad when you came to Canada and that we had the chance to get to know you and Rodger.  I know he was very surprised at the number of family members he had here.  Please accept our condolences in your loss and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear of Rodger's passing. It is nice to see he was so loved by his family. We have never met but I was his cousin, 4th child of Lloyd Mills. My middle name was also in honor of Rodger's father and my uncle.

It's funny how some people come into your life to mold and guide you.  Uncle Roger was one of those people for me.  I was so afraid of him when I was little because he was "intense".  He teased me all the time.  As I got older, I looked forward to seeing him and his teasing.  I think it made me feel important somehow.  I can't tell you how much I'm going to miss him.  He made a difference in my life and the way I saw myself.  Aunt Jenny, I thank both of you so much for everything you've done for Gina and I.  I appreciate the conversations Uncle Rodger had with Andrew.  It made him think.  He admires Uncle Rodger.  I'm going to miss his giggle and laughing eyes.  I love you Uncle Roger.  Thank you for being in my life.

                                                CROSSROADS
            Yesterday, I pointed out to my mom that the street sign at the corner of University Avenue and Railroad Street was repaired.  It was leaning over and you couldn't see the street signage clearly.  On Thursday, I think it was, I noticed it was standing erect and it looks like the signs with the street names are new.  It made me very happy to see them repaired.  I'd meant to call the city but kept forgetting.  Maybe my Uncle had it handled -- I'd like to think he did anyway.  
 I pointed it out to my mom when I brought her home from work.  And we sat in the truck looking at them for a minute when my mom said "the Railroad and the University, two institutions that helped build Laramie."  And that was so profound to me.  That is what built this town.  And a town is built of people and families.  My family in particular was nourished in body, mind and spirit because of these two entities that continue to this day to provide more families with the same nourishment.  
 As I looked at the sign I see the Railroad name is above the University name, and I thought how appropriate.  First the railroad then the university.  This is a crossroads, a new beginning.  The railroad marked a new beginning for many people looking to improve their lives and later the University of Wyoming would bring about new beginnings for more people.  
 The UW started its life on land deeded from the railroad to the city of Laramie.  University Avenue started out as Center St. with the intention that this would be the main avenue in the town.  It later was renamed University Avenue.
 So my Uncle Rodger met my Aunt Jenni here in Laramie where their roads crossed one another.  My Aunt growing up as a railroad kid, and my Uncle attending the University of Wyoming where he earned his degree in Geology.  
 This young couple went on to travel many roads of adventure in foreign countries and cross many paths with many people.  They raised their children who now are traveling their own exciting paths.  And all this travel and movement from this one crossroad ... 
 Death is so sad because we feel we're at the end of our road but really its a new beginning.  The road is still here and we will cross paths again.  Life is very much like these roads and crossroads, we can always go back and start again.  From a distance it looks scary but once you're there its just one foot in front of the other.  Its not the same I know, but its not an end. I love that I get to live at this crossroad, this lovely place of beginnings.
 I love my Uncle and he influenced the paths I've traveled and I am better for it.  I will miss you today and in my tomorrows.  Thank you is not enough to say when someone has taken the time to make the difference you have in me.  I love you, and I'll see you when our paths meet again at that crossroads.  Love, Gina Chavez

Hello Jenny and family, Jean and I (Dennis) would like to send our condolences. We only had a brief time together in Laguna Beach and when you, Rodger,Cindy and her daughter came to St Thomas. A lot of relatives came to see all of you. We all enjoyed your visit and had hoped we could get together again. Rodger was very interesting to talk to and seemed like a genuinely nice person.Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
