Longtime Mira Mesa resident, Roderick A. "Roddy" Morris departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2019. He was born September 18, 1963 in Carbondale, Illinois to Beverly and Lionel Morris. Roddy spent his childhood in Southern Illinois. He moved to San Diego, California in 1979 with his mother, brothers, and new stepfather Larry Gardner. Roderick graduated from Clairemont High School ~Special Education. He worked for the next 38 years in the restaurant industry as a "Dishwasher/Food Prep." He spent the last 19 years at IHOP in Mira Mesa. Roddy was an avid collector of Classical Music CDs and Movies. His collection included over 1,000 pieces. He enjoyed music and movies in different languages and from various cultures (with subtitles). He was a frequent visitor to the Mira Mesa Library where he used the computer and kept current on various issues.
Roddy has been seen riding his bicycle and making friends in the Mira Mesa community for the last 40 years.
One of the high points in Roddy's life was being able to attend and sit in the front row at Symphony Hall with his mother at a John Williams Concert(one of his favorite composers).
Roderick is survived by his Mother, Beverly Gardner and Stepfather, Larry Gardner, Brothers: Lennie E. Morris and Christopher m> Brown(Gerlie) Sister: Deseree Gardner, two Stepsisters: Michelle Gardner and Kandra Gardner, two Halfsiblings: Sarah & John Morris, Grandmother Wanda V. Haynes and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. He was proceeded in death by his father, Lionel Morris.
