Robert Joseph Schmid 75 passed away on December 19th, 2020 in San Diego, California. Robert was born in Springfield, Minnesota on March 19, 1945. Robert enlisted in the Navy in 1964 and served his country for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He continued to serve the Navy as a civilian contractor for over 20 years. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, making many cross-country trips with his wife of 50 years, and Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” playing through the speakers. He is remembered as a kind and humble soul, who liked to make others smile and laugh. Robert is survived by his wife Bona F. Schmid, son Robert John Paul Schmid, sister Karen (John) Coners, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Viola Schmid, brothers Russell Schmid, Theodore Schmid, and Kenneth Schmid.
