Never did I ever think that I would be writing an obituary of my son Robert Manuel Mendivil Jr. known as Robbie to his family and close friends. Robbie left our world way too soon on June 23rd, 2024 at the age of 20. He was a very loving wonderful intelligent young man with his whole future ahead of him. There are not enough words that can describe the loss that those closest to him are feeling. He is survived by his parents, Maria Valdez and Robert Manuel Mendivil Sr, his sister, Leslie Alisa Valdez, and his older brother Josue Arturo Valdez, his niece Sophia, and his cousins, aunts, and uncles and many close friends.
Since Robbie was a child, he brought joy, love, and silliness to his family and friends. At an early childhood, he began a love for mathematics and upon acquiring his first Lego set started on a journey that would eventually end up with his desire and passion to become a mechanical engineer. He loved music and learned how to play the violin, bass guitar, and drums. He ran cross country and track at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, CA and obtained his varsity letter. Later he attended Southwestern Community College focusing on an engineering major. His designs and engineering projects were amazing and his hard work and efforts earned his acceptance at the prestigious California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly) in Pomona, California where he was scheduled to attend this fall.
Robbie loved playing video games with his friends, building gaming computers, formula one racing, attending concerts of his favorite artists, travelling, bowling, shooting at gun ranges, dressing like his big brother, hanging out with his brother, sister and friends. He also had a love for motorcycles.
Our world will never be the same without him. Heaven has received a new angel and our loss is heaven’s gain. He will be forever in our hearts and our love for him will only grow stronger.
Robbie, my son, may your travels be free of harm, full of wonderous adventures, fantastic journeys and stories that you and I may share together one day in the afterlife.
