Robert Emery LaRocque passed away on January 17, 2016. Born in Michigan, he relocated to California in the 1930’s. In July of 1941 at age 17 he joined the US Navy, a young man with his sights set on seeing the world. Following boot camp he requested to be assigned to the Battleship U.S.S. Tennessee BB-43 where he joined his brother on board. Four months later on December 7, 1941, “a date which will live in infamy”, he was aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. He was a World War II veteran and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Following Pearl Harbor he was based in Washington D.C. where he met the love of his life Arlene to whom he was married to for 49 years. He had a love for life and people; he lived life to the fullest, he was generous and kind. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Arlene, who passed away in 1994; he is survived by his son, Gilbert LaRocque, daughter Linda Sweet and son-in-law, Ben Sweet, 2 grandchildren and their spouses and 7 great-grandchildren. He was so loved by his family and many friends and he will truly be missed, fond memories will stay with us forever. The family has requested that any donations be made to the Veteran of Foreign Wars in his honor
