

Robert Allen “Bob” Chrivia, Sr.
February 15, 1935 – November 4, 2021
Robert A. “Bob” Chrivia Sr. was called to rest on November 4th 2021 after injuries suffered during a single-vehicle accident on October 16th.
Bob was born in DeLand, Florida, in 1935 as the eldest child of Francis George “Frank” Chrivia and Mabel Gladys Bowman. Bob was very much the eldest son, assisting in the running of the family farm while his father was serving in the US Navy. The family Moved across country to the San Diego, California area when he was 16 years old.
Bob graduated from Coronado High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Marcia Anne Jacobs in 1955. Bob and Marcia embarked on a remarkable journey and love story together, bringing five children into the world along the way: Robert Allen “Bobby” Jr; John Charles, two infant sons who died shortly after birth, and Suzanne Lee “Suzy”.
Bob worked in a variety of jobs over the years, including logistics coordinator for CONVAIR Corporation, performing similar tasks for Global Associates, being a self-employed business owner with a gas station and paint and body shop and, a Real Estate agent in the San Diego Area. Bob finished his working years back in logistics coordination and facilities planning for several contractors including Global Associates, PanAm World Services, Johnson Controls and, Raytheon Corporation.
Living in a tropical paradise is the dream of many people and Bob was able to fulfill that dream with his family with two “tours” at Kwajalein, Republic of the Marshall Islands during the periods 1966-1972, and 1980 – 2000. Bob, Marcia, and Suzy were able to enjoy their work and life there, and made many lasting friendships.
Trading one paradise for another after retirement, Bob returned to San Diego where he lived his remaining years. He continued to travel, visiting many states of the Union, many European countries, Canada, and Mexico. Many of these trips were associated with his primary hobbies of researching family ancestry and recreational gold mining. His last trip was taken to mine with his many Lost Dutchman Mining Association friends in Stanton, Arizona.
Bob leaves behind his son John Charles (Rita) and daughter Suzanne Lee (Thomas "Bud" Teague), former daughter-in-law Patricia Eileen Kach Chrivia, as well as one grandson, Kelson Robert Chrivia and two granddaughters, Katherine Elizabeth Chrivia and Kaitlin Anne (Jonathan Byram), one great-granddaughter Eleanor Elyse Byram, his brother David Bowman Chrivia and sister Jeanine Linda Chrivia Curren Bloom. He is predeceased by his wife, Marcia Anne Jacobs Chrivia, his son Robert Allen “Bobby” Chrivia Jr., his parents Francis George Chrivia and Mabel Gladys Bowman Chrivia Taylor and brothers John Francis Chrivia and Carl Katsunori Chrivia. The Family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be considered to the American Heart Association American Heart Association.

Robert Allen “Bob” Chrivia Jr. died suddenly after a series of prolonged illnesses on August 13, 2021 in San Diego, California.
Bob Jr. was born in Coronado, California in 1956 as the eldest child of Robert Allen Chrivia Sr. and Marcia Anne Jacobs Chrivia. He was known as “Bobby” and “Bob” to his friends and family. He lived in San Diego County for most of his adult life after spending 7 years during his childhood with his family in Kwajalein, Republic of the Marshall Islands where he enjoyed island life, playing sports, and scuba diving WWII nautical wrecks.
Bob graduated from Poway High School in 1975 and proceeded to take college courses to become a licensed land surveyor. He embarked on a series of jobs including land surveying, general labor, and carpet installation until his retirement in 2014 due to illness. While living in San Diego County, he met Patricia Eileen Kach and married her in 1987. In 1989, they welcomed their daughter Kaitlin Anne Chrivia.
Bob was known to be fun-loving and had an adventuresome and inquisitive spirit. He continued to find new ways to express his personality up to the very end.
Bob leaves behind his daughter Kaitlin Anne (Jonathan Byram), granddaughter Eleanor Elyse Byram, father Robert Allen Chrivia Sr., brother John Charles (Rita), sister, Suzanne Lee (Thomas "Bud" Teague), former wife Patricia Eileen Kach Chrivia, nephew Kelson Robert Chrivia and niece Katherine Elizabeth Chrivia. He is predeceased by his mother Marcia Anne Jacobs Chrivia and two infant brothers who died shortly after birth. His father, Robert A. Chrivia Sr., survived him by 3 months.
