Rita Marie Magrath Sorgi died on March 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Aladino Diamante Sorgi, her five children, Marguerite (Terry) Camarata (David), Cynthia Asbury (John), Christine Dean (John), Alan Sorgi (Anita) and Julie Arico (Nick), as well as 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Rita was born and raised in Boston, MA where she met the love of her life, Aladino. They married in August 1958 and were happily married for 63 years. Career opportunities brought Al and Rita to San Diego, CA in 1973. Their children attended St. Didacus School where Rita later became the secretary, a position she held for 20 years.
She retired in 1999 and spent her retirement years traveling the world with Al, enjoying time with her family and becoming a Ruby Life Master Bridge player of the American Contract Bridge League.
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 4:00 pm at Chapel of the Bells of El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley (5600 Carroll Canyon Road) followed by viewing until 6:00 pm.
Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Thursday, March 31st at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by burial services at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley. The Sorgi family is hosting an open house March 31st from 4:00 to 8:00 at the family home in Scripps Ranch.
