Richard Howard Kelly
May 25, 1940-October 3, 2024
Richard Howard Kelly passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 3 at the age of 84, due to kidney failure.
Born in Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada, Richard immigrated to the United States with his family when he was six years old and became a U.S. citizen in his early teens. He graduated from Covina High School. Richard was previously married to Wanda, with whom he had four children: twin boys, Terry and Timothy, who tragically passed away shortly after birth, and two other children, Debra Lee and Sean. After their divorce, he later married Anna, and took on the task of helping raise her young son, Chad.
At 17, Richard enlisted in the Navy, later transferring to the U.S. Air Force where he served as a military police officer stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii for several years. He also attended college at the University of Southern California (USC) where he pursued studies in law.
Richard built a highly successful career as a Life and Health Insurance agent, earning national recognition for his achievements. He received numerous awards, including national rankings in his field, and was a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table. One of his proudest achievements was serving on the board of directors of the USC Medical Board. Richard was also deeply involved for many years in the Masons and the Southern California DeMolay.
In his personal life, Richard had a passion for football, golf, boating, fishing, and home improvement projects. He enjoyed being a handyman, often tackling various tasks around the house with his characteristic enthusiasm, frequently saying, “I can do anything.” His love for football was legendary, often attending Friday night high school games, Saturday USC games, and Sunday Chargers games—all in the same weekend.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, and his son Sean and daughter-in-law Katty and stepson Chad Cameron and stepdaughter-in-law Brooke. He was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Lee and his twin boys.
He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
