1/4/1953 - 4/7/2023
At around 12:30pm, April 7th, 2023, at Pomerado Hospital ICU Rm #7, in his hometown of Poway, CA, Paul Edward Beyl Jr. took his last breath in the flesh of this world & was welcomed into our Father Almighty’s kingdom of Heaven. He was a strong, bold fighter until the very end, always receiving awe and praise from the medical professionals who were blessed to treat him while hospitalized the last 3 weeks of his life. He touched many souls in his life; and continued to leave his loving & irreplaceable mark on those he came across everywhere his presence was felt. He is unmistakably & undeniably one of the greatest men to ever walk this earth.
At Balboa Navy Hospital in San Diego, CA, on January 4th, 1953, as the first-born son of Paul & Maria Catalina Beyl, Paul Edward Beyl Jr. was born into this world. What a blessed day the 4th of January in 1953 was; the world had no idea what type of man Paul E. Beyl Jr. would become, & the number of souls he would truly touch with his genuine love, kindness & forgiveness. A true, real-life legend was born that day. Paul was the eldest of 6 children; 4 hermanas, Mary, Linda, Sally & Sandra, & 1 brother, the youngest being William (Billy) Beyl.
His childhood would happen very fast, and be somewhat short-lived, due to the difficult realities of life presented to this young man at such a young age. Paul E. Beyl Jr. was not one to back down to challenges though, especially those types of challenges that involve the well-being of his mother & younger siblings. Being the eldest of 6 children, Paul had to grow up fast, in order to take care of his cherished & beloved mother, Maria Catalina, as well as his younger siblings, in ways that others did not. This created an extremely hard work ethic in Paul, that lasted until his very last of days. Paul absolutely adored and admired his mother, Maria Catalina Beyl.
Growing up working in his dad's restaurant, The Ponderosa in downtown San Diego, and additionally creating multiple streams of income from trading, shooting marbles, building/creating artwork and items of value to others, he learned the value and reward of hard work and taking care of his loved ones, as every man should, but most do not. Whenever Paul was able to find some free time for himself as a kid, you could find him fishing all up & down the coast, especially in La Jolla, making/shooting self-made sling shots or harnessing his rock throwing skills. He was a natural outdoorsman & absolutely loved anything ocean related.
Fast forward to Junior High School years, where Paul laid eyes on his soon to be future wife, Irma Preclaro, for the very first time. It was absolutely love at first sight. That one-of-kind, feature film, romance novel kind of love. The moment he laid eyes on her and after talking to her one time on the phone, Paul knew that she would soon be his wife and mother of his children. A few years later they would be married into their covenant with our Father Almighty, and that marriage and his unconditional love for her would last until his very final breath, over 50 years later.
Shortly after marrying Irma, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy. As a Gunner’s Mate (GMG), Paul E. Beyl Jr. was stationed aboard the U.S.S. John R. Craig, (Gearing Class) Destroyer DD885. Paul would soon find himself in many battles and critical missions aboard the USS John. R Craig alongside his fellow shipmates/battle buddies, as this was during the height of the Vietnam War. During one mission/engagement, his ship was struck 5 times by heavy enemy artillery/shelling. His bunk area took a very close hit, but fortunately our Father Almighty had favor for him and his whole crew that day, as the only casualties inflicted were on the side of the Vietnam fighters. Thankfully, Paul completed his service as a Vietnam Combat Veteran in 1975 and returned home, unscathed and ready to start his family, as his first-born son, Jason Beyl was on the way.
Paul was faced with a very difficult decision at this time, as he was 1 of 2 people aboard the entire U.S.S. John R. Craig DD885, who was personally selected by the Commanding Officer for (OCS) Officer Candidate School. Ultimately, after long deliberation, Paul E. Beyl Jr. made the decision to accept his honorable discharge and leave the U.S. Navy, placing more focus on being present with his new formed family and first-born son; knowing what his military career would entail after becoming an Officer and moving his family across the country. Jason P. Beyl was born at the same Balboa Navy Hospital his father was born at, on September 16th, 1974.
The decision to leave the Navy & deny OCS was a decision that he would not regret, because shortly after his service came to an end, Paul would eventually become the Pioneer and Forefront Leader of the Quality Assurance & Title 24/DSA Inspection Industry as a whole, here in his home state of California, based out of his hometown, here in beautiful San Diego.
Starting in the Special Inspection & Engineering Laboratories of San Diego, Paul quickly advanced in his career as a Special Inspector, attaining every Special Inspector Certification possible during his time at the Labs. He excelled and climbed the corporate ladder to leadership positions within a very short time period. Nobody could keep up with him. Nobody even came close. Ultimately, after a change of ownership within his company was made and declining the proposal to take shares in the company as well as become the CEO figure for the new owners, Paul, again, made the tough decision to embark on a new journey. After careful deliberation and personal conviction, Construction Quality Assurance Group, LLC., would be formed as a result, in the year of 1986.
During his time at the Labs, his 2nd son would be born into this world on September 16th, 1979, and his name would be, Paul P. Beyl, named after Paul E. Beyl Jr. himself. What an honor that is to share the same name. The Beyl family was growing.
At one point in Paul's life, he opened up and ran a restaurant called, "Crazy George's" off of El Cajon Blvd in the middle of San Diego. On top of everything he had going on at this time in the late 70's, after working a full-time job, being a husband and father to 2 sons, 1 being an infant, he still was able to muster up the time and energy to open up a combo restaurant/bar, where he employed multiple people, including his own dad. At multiple times throughout the day and night, Paul would visit, work at and manage Crazy George's, all while going to school to further his education, working a full-time job/career at the Labs as a Special Inspector/Manager as well as take care of his growing family. Eventually, he worked himself almost to death, he was admitted to the ER with low blood count due to not taking care of himself & putting everything else before his own well-being. This was the type of man, Paul E. Beyl Jr. was to the very end; selfless.
Shortly after leaving his company and starting C.Q.A.G., his 3rd & final son would then be born on September 19th, 1986, and his name would be, Matthew P. Beyl.
Construction Quality Assurance Group (C.Q.A.G.) continues to be a leader in the world of Title 24/DSA Inspection to this very day, all due to Paul’s constant and consistent dedication to his trade/career & industry. Paul served on the Division of State Architect (DSA) Board of Directors for 8 years consecutively. He received many awards/accreditations for his accomplishments and contributions to the industry from many Construction Inspection related organizations, including DSA and The American Construction Inspector’s Association (ACIA), where he was awarded “Inspector of the Year” on multiple occasions throughout his career.
Paul E. Beyl Jr. paved the way for many, many souls in this world to become very successful in their lives, through his commitment and dedication to the Construction Inspection/Quality Assurance Industry. The number of people this man has touched and helped tremendously, both financially and spiritually, with 0 expectations, is unknown. There are too many to account for realistically. Only our Savior & Father Almighty know the full extent/amount. Paul E. Beyl Jr. truly glorified our Father/Savior throughout his life through his actions, lifestyle and heart, not through his lips or words. As the bible states in James 2:20, "faith without works is dead"; what a blessing it is that Paul E. Beyl Jr. took this to heart and was an awesome “Man of Action”, through his strong faith. Paul was an actionable leader in every aspect of his life, and above all, he truly displayed, lived and walked with the unconditional love and forgiveness of our Father/Savior Almighty.
Paul E. Beyl Jr.’s greatest accomplishment, of all the things he worked so hard for in this world, is something that is only a gift that can be received, which is his soul’s salvation through our Savior’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross. His death, burial & resurrection for the sins of the world, Jesus Christ/Yahusha Hamshiach/Yeshua Hamshiach, and the love and forgiveness only achieved through His grace, is Paul E. Beyl Jr.’s greatest feat/accomplishment attained.
Paul E. Beyl Jr. is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Irma P. Beyl, their 3 sons, Jason, Paul Jr. and Matt Beyl, as well as 6 grandchildren; Michael (Mook), Madison (Madi), Dylan (Dyl), Gavin (Gav), Damien (Lil D), & lastly, Mateo Coa Beyl; and 3 cherished Daughters in Law/Marriage, Olivia, Megan & Amy Beyl…
