Patricia Annette Neuhoff, (aka Redbird) passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2019. She was born July 17, 1939, in Nampa, Idaho and grew up in Eastern Washington.
Patricia embodied the quote “Though she but little, she is fierce.” Anyone who really knew Patricia knew she was anything but little and was affectionately known as the Mother Bear of the family. Patricia is survived by her husband, Lawrence, their children Larry III (Amanda), Susan, Tricia (Stephen), and by her grandchildren Ren, Lauren, Tricia, Ethan, Kamran, Emma, and Trevor. She loved her family dearly.
When she was 18 years old, she joined the United States Air Force, in a time when most women did not serve. She held a basic belief in woman’s equality which she passed along to her children. She met Lawrence in Louisiana, where they both served at Barksdale Air Force Base. They were married on Valentines Day, 1962. After they were honorably discharged from the Air Force they moved several times throughout Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. They ultimately ended up in San Diego, California.
Painting was her passion. As an award winning artist she focused her work primarily in oil and acrylic painting. Her early work focused on city-scapes and flowers, while later she progressed into abstract painting with Native American subjects and symbolism.
She was an avid reader most of her life, but was known to read the first and last chapters first to make sure the book was worth her time. She was also a person who believed strongly in the benefits of meditation and encouraged others to do the same. Any time she said she “was doing her mantra,” you knew she was meditating.
She loved to laugh and often broke into giggles during stressful situations. She was great with a comeback and ready to tease at a moments notice.
Redbird we love you and will miss you dearly or, as you would say, “We love you muchly.” Know you left your mark on our hearts which will bring smiles and laughter to our faces when we think of you.
Private services with Military Honors to be held at Miramar National Cemetery.
