

Norman E. Langevin was born on December 1, 1933 in Providence RI and passed away on April 19, 2016 in San Diego, CA. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Carol Langevin, his children Lee Langevin and Lisa Langevin, his step children Kevin Hoyt, Kimberly Hoyt, and Kory Hoyt, his grandson Nicholas Langevin and step granddaughter Chloie Hoyt, his brother Raymond Langevin and sister Marilyn Kenahan. And is preceded by step-son Michael Hoyt. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for 23 years and retired as a chief petty officer. Some of his naval highlights included three spacecraft recoveries and removal of mines in North Vietnam waters on the USS New Orleans. He also worked 15 years for the Sweetwater school district retiring as head custodian of Chula Vista High School in 1991. He was also a little league coach to his son’s teams. In his retirement years he took care of his aging in- laws. He also enjoyed fishing, trips to Mexico, and going to the casino. He was a Charger fan even though they broke his heart every season. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and longtime member of the Peninsula YMCA. He was always generous and kind to everyone and easy going. He was greatly loved and will be missed. When asked to reflect upon his life he said he lived longer than he ever thought he would and that he lived and enjoyed a simple life.
A visitation is planned on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Beardsley Mitchell Funeral Home, 1818 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., San Diego, CA from 4 PM to 7 PM. A mass is planned on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4776 Saratoga Ave., San Diego, CA 92107.
