Nina Louise Marshall, 74, of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, affectionately known as Nani, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 17, 2017 from complications with pneumonia. Nina was born on December 13, 1942 in Pasadena, California, daughter to the late Don & Allene McNeil. She is survived by her loving husband of over fifty-four (54) years, Frank “Gill” Marshall III; beloved mother to Holly Caouette (Hank) & Scott Marshall (Nicol) and adored grandmother to Brittany Sibbers (Chris), Lindsey Caouette, Taylor Marshall, Madison Marshall & Riley Marshall. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her siblings Karen Rocha (Jose) & Bill McNeil including many nephews, nieces & cousins. Nina was married to Gill on December 29, 1962. They resided in Cardiff-by-the Sea for over thirty (30) years where she worked for Warren Properties for twenty (20) years. While growing up in Pasadena, she attended St. Andrews Catholic School, Mayfield Senior School and the University of Southern California. Family was the most important thing in life to her . . . Nina loved to be immersed in her granddaughters’ lives, enjoying family & friends up at their Big Bear home and going out to dinners, playing poker and tennis with her “girls group”, shopping at Costco and viewing owls on the internet. She especially enjoyed watching “winning” USC Trojan football, monitoring earthquakes and spoiling their loyal canine companion, Barkley Marshall. Besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many, Nina was a devout Catholic who was the inspirational leader of the family and with her infectious personality, smile, laugh and storytelling ability made even a stranger believe that they were longtime friends. Nina was a close friend to all her children’s’ friends and enjoyed watching everyone’s life unfold on Facebook while serving as a safeguard and protector always looking out for her granddaughters’ well-being. She took great pride in her children and often love to embellish stories about their latest exploits to all. She will be loved . . . A “Celebration of Life” for Nina Louise Marshall will be held on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the Church of the Nativity at 6309 El Apajo, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067 beginning at 10:30am with burial services immediately following at Miramar National Cemetery at 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122 beginning at 12:30pm.
