Nazaria Abilay Oliquiano was born in Enrique Villanueva, Central Visayas, Philippines on July 28, 1939 to Pacifico Padayhag Abilay and Rosario Eslit Abilay and is the 3rd child of 7 children including Hilladora Abilay Bautista, Pablo Eslit Abilay (deceased), Lamberta Abilay, Raudillo Abilay, Venancia Abilay Apilan, Carmelo Eslit Abilay (deceased).
She leaves behind her Husband, Vic Ang Oliquiano, children Mr and Mrs. Oliver (Son) & Ruthann (Daughter-in-Law) Oliquiano and Mr. & Mrs. Mike (Son-in-Law) & Rosabel (Daughter) Agbayani, and grandchildren Arianna Marie Oliquiano Monge (daughter of Rosabel) , Shaun Agustin Oliquiano (son of Oliver), Jewels Agustin Oliquiano (daughter of Oliver), Michael Chris Agbayani Jr (son of Mike and Rosabel), Dannica Rose Agbayani (daughter of Mike and Rosabel), and Nazaria Grace Oliquiano (daughter of Oliver and Ruthann).
Nazaria graduated with a degree in Nursing from Southwestern University in Cebu, Philippines. In the late 1960's she immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she met the young US Navy serviceman (Vic) who, stationed in Albany, Georgia, USA ,spent months traveling by bus to and from Georgia just to see his sweetheart before marrying her on November 27, 1971. Together, Nazaria and Vic built a life as a military family stationed in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Jacksonville, Florida, Kauai, Hawaii, Atsugi, Japan. They made their forever home in San Diego, California in December 1985. Shirley worked as a nurse for a Skilled Nursing Facility until she retired in 2009. Shirley's pride and joy was her love for God, her family, and being a grandmother. She was a world traveler along with her husband and visited many places including various countries in Europe, South America, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Asia. When in San Diego, "Grandma Shirley" spent time cheering on the San Diego Padres and watching her grandchildren play sports. She was well loved and admired by her friends, colleagues, and especially her family. Nazaria was a genuine heart whose faith and happy spirit carried her through many challenges she faced. She will truly be missed.
