Michael Jason Lawley was born to Michael L. Lawley and Linda C. Corvin on January 30, 1969, in Bessemer, Alabama. Jason lived in various places during his childhood, including Redmond, Washington, Redwood City, California, and Mexico.
Jason served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st MI Long Range Surveillance Detachment, Airborne. He deployed to Iraq in 1990 and participated in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield as part of an elite six-man combat team. Jason also served in the California National Guard and was activated to serve during the riots in L.A. Upon completion of his military service Jason attended UC Davis where he completed a B.A. in Sociology of Law with a minor in Formal Logic. Jason graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2001. Jason had a talent for languages and was fluent in both Spanish and Italian.
Jason was a dedicated champion of the underdog and the underprivileged. He practiced law for more than fifteen years as a criminal defense attorney and he was an avid supporter of Bernie Sanders. Jason enjoyed his music more than most, everything from heavy metal to folk music, often getting goosebumps when a favorite song came on the radio. Jason was a kid at heart, and he took no greater joy than in his children, taking them on excursions to explore the outdoors, amusement parks and other adventures.
Jason is survived by his parents, his son Alex Lawley and his daughter Carolyn Lawley.
