Born in 1931 in Newport, Rhode Island, to Anna and Frank Correia Rosa, Mary moved with her family to Los Gatos, California, when she was one year old, where they lived on a family dairy farm before moving to Point Loma in 1935, where she lived the rest of her life.
Mary loved her life in beautiful San Diego, and nurtured many lifelong friendships with her classmates from Cabrillo Elementary School, Dana Junior High School, Point Loma High School, where she was a cheerleader with her brother Joe, and San Diego State University.
Mary loved people and enjoyed being a part of community life, with active involvement in many charitable, social, school, church, and athletic events. She also enjoyed nature and was an eager companion with her loving husband, Stanley E. Jones, on countless outdoor adventures in Yosemite, the Sierras, and at the family cabin near Julian.
Mary’s greatest love was her family. She opened her home to a constant flow of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She loved meeting people and socializing, enjoyed watching sports, playing tennis and bridge with friends, loved to travel, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley E. Jones, children Asa Dan Morton III (Kiki), Todd Jones (Erin), Ellen Jones Bauer (Brian), and Alison Jones Leong (Lloyd), eight grandchildren, and sister Olivia Ledbetter. She is predeceased by her father and mother (Anna and Frank Rosa), siblings Alyce McMenomy and Joe Rosa, and husband Asa Dan Morton, II.
