Mary Elizabeth Bullock was born on January 19, 1951in Americus .GA. to Thomas and Evelyn Washington, she was the second of three children with one brother and one sister. Mary along with her parents and siblings resided in the home of her grandfather, a Minister and grandmother the family Matriarch Mary (affectionately called Ma Mary) whom she was named after. Mary’s grandmother instilled in her strong moral values, work ethics, honesty and the importance of doing things right or not at all. Being introduced to Christ and the Bible at an early she accepted Him as her Savior. Mary attended Americus-Sumter High School. Having a keen interest in how things work and a natural talent of putting things together, she excelled at the various jobs she held. She was a self taught seamstress and worked in that capacity at the McGregor shirt factory in her home town Mary was always busy whether it was working as a Clerk-Cashier at 7-11 or at the Miramar Navy Exchange in San Diego for more than twenty years. She also kept busy with home project, putting things together, taking them apart or making them better. Mary was a devoted Mother and was blessed with her first child Milton in 1966 and the second child Andre in 1973. Claude, Mary’s brother-in-law who was in the Navy and visiting Americus, GA. was accompanied by a young sailor named Eron Bullock. Claude introduced Eron to Mary and promptly took off in Eron’s car. Eron and Mary made a connection, were impressed with each other, had many long conversations and became close friends. On December 26, 1974 Eron and Mary were married. From their union was born Tahira Aisha Aiyetoro and Ahmed Khalid Bullock. During Eron’s Navy career the family traveled to Rota, Spain, Virginia Beach, VA, and San Diego, CA. Mary was a dedicated Mother and made sure her children always had what they needed and followed her rules. Mary passed away on December 19, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father-Thomas Washington Sr., Mother Evelyn Washington and Brothers Thomas Washington Jr. and Harold Gary. Those left to cherish her memory are: Sisters, Rosa Jones of Virginia Beach, VA. And Marilyn Gary of Connecticut, Sons, Milton, Andre and Ahmed, Daughter, Tahira. grandchildren- Gary, Nailah, Amara, Milton Jr. Andre, Machele, Renalyn, Halima, Joseph, Ahmed Jr., Christian, Abraham, Priscilla, two great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
