Mary Chidester Bowen Born: July 16, 1924 in Fayetteville, Arkansas Died: January 31, 2017 in San Diego , California Mary passed peacefully during the late evening of January 31st at Elmcroft of Pt.Loma. After high school graduation in the early 40s, Mary left her home state of Oklahoma for San Francisco, and there, while working at Lockheed Martin, met her soon-to-be husband Charles.During the early years of marriage, they lived and worked in the Panama Canal Zone, where her younger son was born.Upon their return to the US they lived in Texas, Coos Bay, Oregon and later in Hemet, CA. They have been living in Pacific Beach since 1956. Before her retirement, Mary was very active in the PTA of San Diego, acting as president for ten years.She managed the office of her husband for some years, after working as a medical lab technician. Mary and Charles developed an avid interest in genealogy, and together composed several books on the subject. This interest led Mary to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Charles passed away in September of 2006. She is survived by two sons, Vic and Chris, her grandsons Morgan and Jon, and two great grandchildren.
