She grew up in the 3rd Ward with many Italian cousins and family members. Starting in her childhood, she worked in her Grandparents general store. Marie attended Lincoln High School in Milwaukee and graduated in 1949.
At the age of 23 her parents moved her family to Little Italy in San Diego, CA. It was there she met the love of her life and husband Angelo Emilo. The two were married for 50 years. They had 2 children, Jerry and Lee Ann and resided the majority of their years in San Carlos, San Diego. Over the course of the years, Marie was blessed with 6 Grandchildren & 5 Great Grand Children.
Marie loved her 6 Grandchildren and babysat them on a regular basis while they were growing up. She loved to cook for them and her house was like a restaurant & playground. The kids nicknamed her “Junkfood Nana”.
Throughout her life, Marie loved to to paint. She belonged to the Foothills Art Association and served as the Historian for 1 year.
Following her husband’s passing in 2006, she found lots of love in her little dog and new best friend Cupcake.
Her and her sister Florence moved to Encinitas to be closer to her daughter and her family.
She loved living in Encinitas and her days were filled with socializing with her wonderful neighbors. Her & her sister Florence became local celebrities at Walmart and spent many countless hours there shopping and joyriding on the town.
Marie loved all of the wonderful individuals that cared for her and looked at them like members of her own family.
Marie passed peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Marie was selfless and even in her last days she was asking everyone: “can I get you something to eat?”
A service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held on Monday, August 1st at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Cemetery
