Lucy Baldo Antolin, beloved wife and mother, passed away at the age of 66 on Friday, November 2, 2018 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. Lucy was a long time resident of Southern California, most recently residing in Valencia. Born in the Philippines, on June 26, 1952, she was the daughter of Gregorio and Lucia Baldo. She is the sixth of ten children.
Lucy was educated in the Philippines attending Marcelino Fule Memorial Academy and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Far Eastern University in 1976.
Shortly after graduation, Lucy immigrated to San Diego, CA with her sister Lety (Baldo) O'Donnell. Lucy will often say that when she moved to the United States, that's where she really began to live her life. She attended SDSU to further her Chemistry studies, and in 1981 she moved to the San Fernando Valley to start a career in Laboratory Sciences. She started work for Bio Science (later to become Smith Kline Beecham Clininal Laboratories). There she was able to master various techniques to further her skill set. Lucy valued a strong work ethic and would often make the most of her time. During her career she is noted to have also worked at Smith Kline Beecham Clinical Laboratories, Specialty Laboratory, Quest Diagnostics, and Clarient GE Healthcare.
In January 1998, Lucy became certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Cytogenetics. She loved the work that she did and wished she had been able to work in that role longer. She retired from Clarient GE Healthcare in 2013.
While Lucy very much valued hard work, she also loved adventure. Notably, she loved to travel. Paris, Hawaii and the US National Parks were some of the favorite places she visited. She was also a foodie, enjoying a delicious meal while going on outings with her family.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Max Antolin, and her only daughter, Melissa Antolin. She is also survived by her sisters Nena Depasupil, Hermie Lazaro and Nenneth De Guzman, her brothers Rudy Baldo, Celso Baldo and Danny Baldo, as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lety O'Donnell and Wena Ilagan, and her brother Ben Baldo.
