Linda Joyce Starek passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22nd, at the age of 70 after a long illness. A La Jolla resident for over 45 years, she will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 20 years, Gerald Starek and her extended family. She was born to Theodore and Pauline Kloster, the middle of three children, on August 30, 1945 in Dublin, Texas, but spent the majority of her early years in San Jose, CA.
Linda went to college at Texas A&M where she earned a BS Degree in Health/Physical Education in 1969, followed by a Masters in Health Education in 1970. After graduating, Linda moved back to California, found her passion in education and went on to become a health and physical education teacher at La Jolla Country Day School and Sweetwater High School District.
In 1996, she married the love of her life, Gerald Starek and, happily, retired. Together they traveled the world, always ready for the next adventure. Linda had a great zest for life and a generous spirit. She loved entertaining, gourmet cooking, scuba diving, golfing and spending time with family. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister and aunt as well as a dedicated follower of her Catholic faith.
Linda is survived by Gerald Starek, her loving husband, her brother, Ted Kloster and her four nieces. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 7669 Girard Ave., La Jolla, CA.
