San Diego – Linda “Kirt” Curtiss died at home February 23 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Seattle to Glenn and Ruby Curtiss and grew up in Kirkland, Washington. She earned her BS and PhD from the University of Washington. Linda came to San Diego in 1974 as a postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) and continued her research there for 40 years until she retired as a Professor of Immunology in 2014. She loved science, nature, travel, and sports. She is survived by her wife of 41 years, Jeanne Niosi, her sister, Karen Dawson, her brother Patric Curtiss, and beloved nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, colleagues, and her Pod. There will be no memorial services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association.
