Lillian Leccy Hutchinson passed away peacefully in her home in San Diego, CA, on September 10, 2014. She was born January 5th, 1914, in Scipio, Oklahoma, to John Dentis and Edna May Lott, and at the age of 6 moved to Moriarity, New Mexico. A year later the family moved to their homestead in New Hope, NM. Lillian graduated from High School in Elida, NM. The eldest of 10 children, she helped raise her 5 brothers and 4 sisters, before moving to California where she met her husband, Thomas Franklin “Hutch” Hutchinson, then a sailor in the navy. They were married in 1936, and after several ship movements settled in San Diego, CA as their “home port”.
Lillian and her husband, Lt Thomas Hutchinson, had two sons, Thomas Franklin Hutchinson, Jr. and John Dennis Hutchinson.
Lillian was an active mother, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother while her sons were in the scouting program and working with the school PTA. She had been a member of Normal Heights United Methodist Church since 1942, had worked in her church as a Sunday school teacher, lay leader, and was known as the “banner lady” for the many seasonal banners she made which are hung from the ceiling of the Sanctuary.
An avid hobbyist, she enjoyed making artificial flowers, doing hardanger embroidery, sewing, painting, and beadwork.
In addition to her sons, Thomas Franklin, Jr and John Dennis Hutchinson, she is survived by two sisters, Minnie Mae (Jane) Estes and Elsie Irene Allen; and her brother Henry Homer Lott. She also had 4 Grand Children and 5 Great Grand Children.
