Lance William Post was born May 19, 1941 at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. He was the fourth of four children born to Bernadette and Wesley Grimshaw Post. His parents moved to Little Neck, New York in 1947 where he attended Public School 94 and made many friends that turned into life-long friends: Pete, Terry, Mike and Dan.
After graduating from Bayside High School in 1959, he went on to go to the State University of New York Ranger School in Wanakena and completed the forestry program. He traveled out to Oregon to work in forestry. After a few years, Lance went home to New York and became a Police Officer in the New York City Transit Police Department. He was a good police officer and received many commendations.
On July 7, 1967 Lance married Carol and lived in Flushing, New York. They welcomed their son Lance William Jr. on May 10, 1968. Later, they moved to Mahopac, New York. Lance continued to work as a New York City Police Officer. Lance loved to travel and many times he brought his family to Montauk, Long Island, New York to visit his brother Wes and sister in law Lonni and their kids. Also, he and his brother Wes went hunting for deer in upstate New York.
Lance loved taking pictures and loved driving around town. After he retired from the Police Department, he worked for a school bus company and transported 19 special education children to school events. In 1994, Lance Jr. moved to San Diego, California. Soon after that Lance and Carol began to travel to San Diego frequently to visit their son. They would drive from New York to San Diego in the fall and drive back to New York in the spring. In the last few years, Lance and Carol made San Diego their permanent home.
Lance, you are deeply missed. All our love, your wife Carol, Son Lance, Daughter in law Lanny, Sister in law Lonni, Nephews Jim and John, Nieces Suzanne and Lorraine.
