Keith Richard Phelps

He is survived by his wife, Roma of San Diego, son Brian of Yuma Arizona, daughter Brenda of San Diego and two grandchildren, Alexis of San Diego and Matthew of San Diego. He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Hazel Phelps of Iowa, his brother Owen of Florida and his sister, Jean of San Francisco, California.

Keith was born on November 29, 1926 in Littleport, Iowa to Wesley and Hazel Phelps. He graduated from Edgewood High School. His first job was a salesclerk in a drug store. His next job defined his career. He began selling automobiles for Handler Motors and then for Allen Motor Company both located in Iowa. He met his wife Roma and they were married on May 31, 1953. The couple had two children, Brian, their son, was born in 1956 and their daughter, Brenda, was born in 1958. His two grandchildren, Alexis was born in 1992 and Matthew in 1995.

He moved his family from Iowa to Mesa Arizona to escape the cold winters and eventually to San Diego where he worked for Kearny Mesa Toyota for approximately forty four years until he retired.

Keith was accomplished at his profession and a generous, quick witted, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He left an impression on everyone he met. He was an active member of the church, ushering for many years on Sunday mornings.
