Junqing never stopped learning; she enrolled at San Diego City College to learn English, where she was at the top of her class. Always independent, Junqing navigated the city by local bus where she made many friends. Junqing loved singing and was part of the university teacher's chorus in Shijiazhuang and a local Chinese chorus in San Diego.
She loved the ocean and enjoyed daily visits to the beach with her son Jian, which she called her "short tours." Junqing also enjoyed planting flowers, fruits, and vegetables in the backyard, and cooking meals for her family. She wanted to preserve the traditional cuisine from her hometown of Fujian and taught her son Jian how to make many recipes. Junqing Chen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
