Judith "Judy" Wieand (Barney) passed peacefully on April 10, 2016 at the age of 80. Judy is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Darron) and her son Michael (Caehle). She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents Mary and Warren, and her brother Jack.
Judy will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. Judy was born in Detroit, MI to Mary and Warren Barney in 1935. She went on to graduate from the University of Detroit and attend San Diego State University for her Masters in Social Work. Judy married Bob in Santa Barbara, CA in 1969. Judy had a tremendous passion for her work with Child Welfare Services for San Diego County. After her retirement she continued this work as a volunteer for Voices for Children. Judy also had a passion for real estate, creating cozy and warm homes for her family. Her most recent nickname was "coffee cup Judy" as she was rarely found without a cup of coffee in her hand. Judy also loved to dance and never missed an opportunity to move. Judy had a sweet and sometimes naughty sense of humor that kept everyone around her smiling. The memory of her kindness and sweet sense of humor will stay in our hearts. She will be remembered for her incredibly knack for whistling, her beautiful rose gardens, wonderful home cooked meals, and her vast array of needlepoint over the years. She will be missed tremendously but we know she is whistling, dancing, and ... with her husband in heaven.
Services are scheduled for April 28, 2016 at 2:30pm at Miramar National Cemetery with reception to follow at 701 S Nardo Ave. Solana Beach, CA 92075.
