This is unbelievably sad news! The times our boys had together with Josh & Emily as little kids is forever etched in us. Such wonderful photos we have in our albums of them playing together in our yard or theirs, their house or ours. We've not met Karin, but our thoughts are very much with her.  And to Amy & Emily, and to Daniel, and of course to Grandpa Gene, our hearts and love are very much with you, and ache with you.

Josh is a part of what I do everyday, from the silly to the conscientious to the lovingly judgmental.  I think of him often, and lately I have realized that even when I don't realize I am, I often am.  We shared many an hour working together, and as many or more laughing together.  I wish there was more of that to come.  Josh, you are one of a kind.  I miss you.

I never saw Josh down or in a bad mood. He was a joy to work with and could always make you laugh. The first year I met him was the year of Giovanni at the Memmenger. Through the ensuing years, I was always happy to see him on a crew, whichever side it was. Josh will be sorely missed.

Our deepest condolences to the Haner and Martin families. It is so hard to lose a loved one at all, let alone in such a tragedy as this. Our son, Robert, was finally able to meet Josh on his recent visit to Ann Arbor and they "hit it off," like old buddies, confirming all of the great things he had always been told about Josh by his girlfriend Anna, Josh's little sister. Anna adored Josh and spoke of him  often to us. It is easy to see many who knew him felt the same about this wonderful young man. Love to you, Anna, Dan, Martha and Kristin, as you grieve your loss of your son and brother.

Such shocking news..

I can certainly attest to Josh being quite a well-respected stagehand. Even if he rigged, he was always willing to help a fellow stagehand. I too have known Josh from working with IATSE Local 333, Charleston, SC. A quiet and sweet young man. To his wife and family, my condolences. God Bless.

Prayers for Josh and his family.  I missed working with and seeing Josh around in Charleston and loved seeing his smiling face when he visited.

Thoughts and prayers for all of the family.  Prayers for peace beyond understanding.  Josh will be missed by many.

I went to school with Josh in elementary and middle school. I saw him a few times after high school but it has been a while. 

I will never forget his smile, his laugh, or his good natured sense of humor. School was just more fun if he was in your class.

Josh joined us this season for the National Tour of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS.  He was a valued member of our crew and Company Member.
It was a joy to work with him and I am heartbroken that we never meet again.
In the theatre we have a tendency to form new families with each new production.  We as a group travel together, work and play together and do those things families share.   We lost a beloved member of our IBWC family.

Josh was such a kind and fun loving person. I will never forget when we were watching Karin dance from the wings. He looked at me and said she is so beautiful, I have to meet her! I loved watching their beautiful relationship blossom over the years. Karin, my heart is with you. Josh will truly be missed. Sending all our love.

I hadn't seen Josh for years when I heard he'd left us.  I was saddened to hear it, but I'll only remember the times we hung out and all we did was laugh like fools and have a good time.  One less good man in the world, RIP.

Josh was one of the most good hearted people I have met, he always made time to help a friend or be there to talk when you were feeling low. I will miss him dearly and am honored to meet all of you at the service.

I regret falling out of touch with you so much when I moved away from Charleston. The outpouring of grief from our mutual friends on Facebook has brought back so many memories of times at Capone's, AC's, on stage, backstage, and broken down and nearly frozen outside of Indianapolis. My prayers go out to the family.  Josh was a very likable guy who had a big heart.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Josh was always so nice and fun to hang out with.  He always made me feel welcome wherever I'd see him and he sure had the coolest of all tattoos I've ever seen. I think he started all the guys getting red stars.  I'm still in disbelief. God Bless

Josh's Cheshire Cat giggle warms my heart each time I think of him. His kind soul, unique style and warm demeanor lives in all of us. Thank you for touching my life Josh. Gone too soon!

Josh was such a kind, funny, generous man, and he will be so very missed. He was a devoted and loving husband to my dear friend Karin, and the impact his friendship had on so many is becoming very apparent in the wake of his tragic loss. I know I attended at least two group dinners where he tried to pick up the entire table's bill on his own. The last time I saw him, only a few days before the accident, he was joking with me and trying to buy me a drink. That's how I'll always remember him, making me laugh and constantly offering his generosity. Rest well, good man. The world is a darker place without your light in it.

A memorial fund has been established for Josh's wife and family to help with the difficult days ahead.

IATSE Local 333 lost a great stagehand and a wonderful Brother. Are prayers are with the Haner family may they comfort you and give you peace. The curtain may have closed, and the lights have been dimmed, but we know Brother Haner will always be looking down on us to keep us going. Until we all meet again Brother be safe.
