she was raised in Little Italy, attended Washington Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from San Diego High School.
Upon graduating high school she got a job at Foreign Auto Supply. On March 17, 1968 she married Nicola Pecoraro and had three children: Zina (Mario) Pepe, Onofrio and Jack, which were her pride and joy.
In 1974 Nicola and Joann started their company, Nick Pecoraro Painting and Decorating Inc., which was the foundation and legacy that is continued by their sons Onofrio and Jack to this day.
In 1999 Joann became a grandmother to Angela and the following year to granddaughter Josephine, whom she adored.
Joann was a prominent part of Little Italy for 73 years instilling the family values, traditions and faith in God that are some of the qualities that she will be remembered for by all who knew her.
She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and a proud member of the Madonna Addorolata Society and her annual devotion to St. Anthony.
Her greatest role was that of being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be cherished and adored by her family. Never forgotten and always in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
She is survived by her husband, Nicola Pecoraro, daughter Zina (Mario) Pepe, sons Onofrio and Jack. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Tarantino, mother Lillian Tarantino and father Jack Tarantino.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a donation to Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church building fund.
High mass and rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9:00 a.m. with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following the mass.
