Joseph Manuel Galindo

Joe was born September 26, 1928 in San Diego, Ca. He graduated from St.

Augustine High School and then attended the University of San Francisco, San Diego City College and San Diego State. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served in combat in Korea in the 2nd Division 23 rd R CT infantry. He reach the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Korean Service Medal.

After his returned back to San Diego he started his teaching and coaching career at St. Augustine High School and later continued at the University of San Diego High. He also started his 2nd career in 1968 working the off season at the Del Mar race track. He married Stella Garcia in 1957 and raised three children. In his 40 years of teaching and coaching he made many friends and help many people.

There are countless stories on how he made a difference in people's lives. He was a devoted Catholic and loved his family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed golfing and attending his grandchildren sporting events. He passed away peacefully on the morning of November the 2016. He is survived by two sons, three grandchildren and eight grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
