Jack gave me my first "real" job.  I was a starstruck Sounders fan who just happened to be at the right place at the right time.  Jack saw potential in me and I was hired as the office receptionist on a whim I had just to inquire about a position in the office.   Jack took the time to interview me right on the spot and I was hired shortly thereafter. Thanks Jack, for making this young girls' hopes and dreams  become a reality and allow me to have some of the best work memories I could have asked for.  God Bless and R.I.P.

I have a few precious memories of Jack. During my early teenage years, our family visited our cousins on Lake Shore Drive often for a barbeque or special dinner. I always looked forward to going there to visit. Without exception, I always had a great time. I didn't get to spend much time with Jack as he was 12 years older and busy with his life, however, he was very impressionable to me.
My impression of Jack was that he always had a quick, and often funny remark on anything that was said. The topic didn't matter. He exuded an air of confidence of which I had not seen in anyone else before and maybe since. I had the pleasure of visiting him and Chris in their home in San Diego a few years back and he treated me to dinner at a local restaurant. He kept me intrigued with many of his stories as I was trying to catch up on what he had been up to during all the past years. He never bragged about himself, at least to me, which I found him to be quite humble considering his accomplishments and unique experiences. 
Whenever I think of Jack I always picture him as a tall, young handsome man, fresh out of the Marines working at the men's clothing store on Fillmore Avenue. His smile was unforgettable as was his quick wit. 
My biggest regret is that I never got to play a round of golf with him.  Yesterday I played a round of golf and I actually imagined him being there with me.  I hope that someday we'll be able to schedule a tee time in Heaven and I'll get to play with him after all.  God Bless you Jack.

I was in San Diego on business and called up Jack to see if he had time for lunch and a visit. It was in 2014 and Jack, Chris and I went to one of Jack's favorite restaurants. It was a Chinese buffet that had every type of food imaginable and we had a great time. We then proceeded to his home to watch Germany destroy Brazil in the World Cup, seven to one.  Jack loved soccer and he loved golf. We spoke about playing golf the next time I was in town at a course near his home.  Unfortunately, he and I will not be able to keep that golf date. He was a nice fellow and I am proud to have him as my cousin and my friend!

My condolences to Chris and the boys.  I was the Athletic Trainer for the Seattle Sounders for 5 years under Jack's reign.  He was a great guy to work for, firm, but with a great sense of humor and compassion.  I was blessed to have known the man.  I know I disappointed him when I left for the NBA San Antonio Spurs but he enjoyed catching us play in San Diego before the Clippers left.  I've got a boatload of memories including constantly trying to find him a truly 'waterproof' pair of golf shoes.  I think Jack finally came to the realization that they didn't exist.  In one staff meeting the Marketing Department had this idea of a parachute jump inside the Kingdome.  This was supposedly possible due to the severe updraft.  Jack wouldn't allow it without a test in an EMPTY stadium which  led to a very animated discussion.  The pride for his Marine service was strong.  In one Staff Meeting, there was complaining about an overzealous super fan named Russ who was everywhere all the time.  Russ had suffered a head injury while serving in Viet Nam.   Having lost a number of classmates and friends in that war, I had heard enough, got upset and made some very strong comments in support of Russ and his love for the Sounders.  I then got up walked out.  Later, I went to Jack and said that if I owed anybody an apology it was him.  Jack just smiled, said "You were right" and walked away. There are many other vivid memories which I'll always cherish.  I'm just glad we had those years of friendship.  Rest in Peace, my friend. 

So shocked and sorry to hear of Jack's passing. 
           I corresponded with Jack often on political issues and funny stories and enjoying his golf stories. He was someone I looked up to early from when he was in high school, being one of Mom's favorite nephews as a tall handsome guy with a great personality. He often called my mom "Aunt Honey" similar to how his beautiful sisters Marilyn and Joanne often did. 
           He showed my Daughter Heather, along with some Hawaiian students  a great time in San Diego about 10 years ago which I greatly appreciated. 
           I remember riding in a rumple seat in the back of his brown convertible in the mid fifties. I remember visiting Jack working  at the Sample Store on Hertle Avenue.
           I enjoyed the visits to the Daley's on Lake Shore Drive in the summer, often going to swim in Lake Erie or stealing golf balls when walking across the county club golf course.
          I enjoyed hearing about his accomplishments in the Marines, his working on their Stars and Stripes newspaper and being a soccer promoter, being honored in who's who, in places like Toronto, Seattle, and the West Coast. 
I am proud to be related to him. He will be greatly missed.

Jack hosted me and my Hawaii students once in San Diego. He was cool. Like super cool. I remember my Hawaii kids giving him the once-over when he showed up in the hotel 10 years ago to pick us up. All they saw was this big grampa guy. But he blew their minds pretty quickly. He raced around San Diego like a bat outta hell and had funny stories and could hold his own with tough streetwise Hawaiian teens. He took us on a tour of SD, the beach, to dinner...Thanks, Jack. ❤️
