San Diego – Jocelyn Odette Vieira passed away peacefully on October 22, 2015, on the feast day of her beloved St. John Paul II. The fourth of seven children, Jocelyn was born to Antonio and Veronica DeJesus in the colony of Trinidad and Tobago on September 4, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and André, and sister Cena. She is survived by her two sisters Theresa (Dots) and Julia (Petty), and brother Ronald.
Jocelyn was united in marriage to Ronald Peter Vieira on August 23, 1953, in New York, New York. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2006, after 52 blissful years of marriage.
As a career Air Force spouse and mother, Jocelyn lived in many parts of the world including Taiwan, Germany, Hawaii, Nevada, Nebraska and California.
A devout Catholic, Jocelyn was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Pacific Beach, California.
She is survived by her seven children; Donna (Phillip) Young, Randy (Jane), Ed (Laurie), Glen (Lisa), Dale (Carol), Russell (Liz), and Brian (Tammy).
Jocelyn was the proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by her grandson, Raymond Vieira.
Funeral services for Jocelyn will be held on Friday, October 30, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1140 Evergreen St., San Diego, California. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 11:30 AM immediately followed by the Funeral Mass.
