“Jan”, “Sugar”, “Fluff”, “Zēta Zeta”, “Mom”… whatever family and friends called her, Janet Halla Trily was well loved, and will be deeply missed. Janet passed peacefully on February 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on August 1, 1940, Janet was raised in Evanston, IL (north Chicago) before moving to California for college.
While attending University of San Diego, Janet met JT (Jack) Trily. They were married in 1960 and went on to enjoy a long and loving marriage (64 years!), raising three children in Brawley and San Diego, CA.
Janet was comfortable both behind the canvas and in front of the camera. Passionate about color, Janet was a talented painter, and her abstract paintings were enjoyed by many in various art exhibitions. Photos of Janet could also regularly be seen in the Brawley newspapers, as she modeled for years for a local women's clothing store.
Janet was a devoted mother with a youthful spirit who loved to play and make holidays special. Her children will always carry the love she gave them, as they will carry their unending love for her.
Janet is survived by her husband Jack; sons Tony (Lori Parkin) and Joe (Sandi Wheaton) Trily; daughter Jolene Wade; grandchildren Lucas (Tamara), Sean, Isabel (Trevor Ruesch) and Claire Trily, and Jake and Caroline Wade; brothers Joe (Toni) and Jim (Jean Anne) Halla; and nephew Chris Halla.
A funeral mass will be held on April 3 at 11am at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 4212 Jewell St., in Pacific Beach, San Diego. In celebration of her life and love of color please wear something bright.
