Janet Rae Stevens

STEVENS, JANET RAE Jan. 31, 1934 to Oct. 14, 2011 Janet passed peacefully at her home in El Cajon with her son, Mark Baker, and daughter, Bonnie Baker, by her side. Janet was born in South Dakota to Morris and Edith Knutsen but was a lifelong resident of San Diego County. She was primarily employed in the medical admin field but worked tirelessly in serving her community and the people in need. She loved music and dance, especially Hawaiian. She was known to be an outspoken advocate of many causes and was not shy about taking on even the Federal government if necessary. She is survived by three sisters, four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren but will also be missed by a myriad of friends, church members, caregivers, and the local Hui. Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in La Mesa, with a viewing to precede it at 10 a.m. The family suggests a contribution to your favorite local charity in lieu of flowers.
