San Diego, Ca.--James R. Holland, 84, died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife of 60 years, Vivian C. Holland and their only surviving child, Beth A. (Holland) Sloan (Richard) He was preceded in death by his son Mark James Holland just five months prior. He is also survived by his three grandsons, Stuart Sloan, Kristopher Holland and Benjamin Holland, one great grandson Maddux Sloan, his daughter-in-law Kimberly Joy (Voldal) Holland, his brothers David and Richard Holland, sisters Marti Luettecke (Herbert), Hope Rockwell (James), and Kim Watson (Michael). He was preceded in death by his older sister Barbara Washington (Joseph).
James was born in Belle Vernon, Pa. moving at a very young age to Uniontown, Pa. where he spent his early years. He graduated from North Union High School and began working at the local theaters as a licensed projectionist, later taking on the role as manager/projectionist at several multi-screened theaters. He met his wife Vivian while she attended Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing. They began their family and lived in Pa. until 1978 when they moved to San Diego, Ca. He worked in pest control for many years until he retired. He and Vivian loved to travel and enjoyed cruising.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew this quiet, gentle man.
