James William De Simone was born January 3rd 1932 in Chicago Illinois , to James “Vincenzo” De Simone and Elena Lattanzia De Simone. His parents emigrated from a small mountain village, Rocca Casale in Abruzzo Italy. He was the second youngest after his elder sister Pauline, Daniel, and his younger brother Robert.
He leaves behind a large and lasting legacy. The father of 5, Debbie, Paula, Michael, John, and Stephen, as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
James joined the Navy at a young age where he excelled in wrestling and was an early entrant into the frogman program before moving onto an extensive career in government, defense, and international business. Achieving a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois followed by a Juris Doctor from De Paul University.
He went on to hold chief executive positions in multi-billion dollar corporations including President and Chief Executive of the Vinnell Corporation, Vice President of Imodco, and Director of International Operation for General Dynamics. His professional career included meetings with Kings, Generals, and foreign dignitaries while traveling much of the world.
Jim was an avid golfer for many years as well as fly fishing, hunting, and loved to cook. A lifelong Cubs and Bears fan he loved sharing stories, laughs, and time with friends and family.
