Jim was born to parents Frances and John Callahan on March 27, 1954 at Scripps Memorial Hospital on Prospect Street in La Jolla, California. He grew up in Clairemont roaming the canyons with his brothers and friends as a child. He graduated from Clairemont High School in 1972, achieved the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout at 13 in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 277, and for the next ten years, worked with his two older brothers David and Barney in a landscape nursery and contracting business they started. After that, he went on to work in the family business Cal Mil Plastic Products alongside his father and three brothers until his retirement. Jim found satisfaction in working hard and providing for his family.
Jim is survived by his father John, his two brothers Barney and Johnny and their families, his four sons: Zach, Joel, Casey and Tyler and his three grandchildren: Ethan, Jaya and Owen. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved mother Fran and his oldest brother David.
There are so many amazing things about Jim that are seen in those that were close to him and that will be carried on by his family. His love of the outdoors, camping, hiking, anything western, Star Trek, music and his family and friends. Although he was a man of few words, all those around felt his love and compassion. His warmth, smile and humor will always bring a smile and the flush of his love when remembered.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age we have the comfort of knowing that Jim now resides with Jesus along with Frances, David and all the others that have gone before him.
