Irene Dolores Valdivia

She was born in Long Beach, CA on December 15th, 1954. The second daughter of Tony and Anita, she always exuded a quiet dignity. She was kind, loving, adventurous, loyal, and fiercely protective of her family and animals. She never had children of her own, but you wouldn't know that by her nieces and nephews who considered her a 2nd Mom. Irene would emit light at the darkest times and make a stranger feel they were a long cherished friend with one of the best hugs this world has ever experienced.

She is survived by her family: Brother David and Sister-In-Law Robbie, Nephew Anthony and his wife Shelby, and their son Hendrix. Nephew Robert, Niece Alysha, her husband Kevin and their children, Selah, Isabel and Josiah. Brother Victor and Sister-In-Law Kim. Niece Alexandra and her husband Alex, and their son Jacob. Niece Angelique and Nephew Joseph.

We had her 15 years longer than doctors expected and through it all she showed dignity, humility, and empathy for others. In the end, not even death would steal her smile.

A memorial service for Irene will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cypress View Mausoleum, Mortuary and Crematory, 3953 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113.
