She raised three daughters and volunteered her time to school activities like the hot lunch program and Girl Scouts. She was also an active participant and enthusiast of roller figure skating.
She worked 16 years in retail for F.W. Woolworth till the company closed its Parkway Plaza store, then went to work for Walmart, where she resisted retirement, marking 20 years with the Santee store.
She is survived by daughters Melanie Matway (Arthur Enyedy), Linda (Erol) Kilki and Jillianne Richards, grandson, Evan, siblings Paul Korecko and Richard (Ann) Korecko, sister-in-laws Dorothy Trunk and Janet Korecko, and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Jack, sister Margaret Toth, brother Hank, and parents Barbara and Julius Korecko.

A graveside service will be held at El Camino Memorial Park cemetery on Friday, April 27 at 11:00 AM. A memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, April 29, in the private chapel at Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Rancho San Diego, at 9:00 AM. Family and friends are welcomed to attend both events.
