Harold Peterson October 19, 1920 - January 14, 2016 San Diego Harold Everett Peterson was born in Iowa in a small farmhouse surrounded by acres of cornfields. As a child, he went through the Depression and the Dust Bowl, and enjoyed fishing in the creeks, hunting, and trapping. He graduated from high school at 16 and came west to join the Navy in his early twenties. He served in the Navy during WWII, from 1941 to 1946, stationed in Pearl Harbor just after the bombing. Before leaving the Navy, he met Dorothy Shaw, and began a career in the furniture business with his future father-in-law at Shaw's Furniture in Ocean Beach. He was past president of the San Diego Home Furnishings Association. He sold the furniture business in the 1990's and began a new career in Real Estate at the age of 70. At one point in his career, he was honored before several hundred of his peers at Century 21 for his sales achievements. "Pete" loved the ocean and fishing, and taught his family to fish and feel at home on the sea. He owned a series of boats and became an accomplished offshore fisherman, who successfully brought home everything from marlin, tuna, opah, and various other game fish. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his sons, David and Brian, his daughter, Suzanne Pearson, and was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Peterson. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
