Guy was born February 10, 1924 in Port Au Prince, Haiti. He was the sixth of eight children in a very close-knit family. He completed his education, majoring in Math and Art, with the intent to becoming an Electrical Engineer. He was a fervent Catholic with strong faith, who knew that God loved and protected him. His hobbies included puzzles, crossword puzzles, and was a tenacious card player. He played soccer and served as referee in his younger days, and later became engrossed watching baseball and wrestling on TV.
In 1952, he married his one and only true love Marcelle Dejour. They were blessed with four children. They moved to New York City, where Guy worked at the Publisher’s Book Bindery Inc. He then work at the U.S. Post Office, retiring after 18 years of service and receiving numerous awards for outstanding performance. After moving to San Diego, Guy’s faith led him to join the Knight of Columbus (KoC), achieving a Fourth Degree which is a most prestigious degree within the KoC. Fourth Degree members are a group of Outstanding Knights who are dedicated to the service of God, Country and the Order.
His beloved wife preceded Guy in death in 2002. He is survived by his children, Jean, Florence, Prisca (PJ) and Marie-Ange; daughter-in-law Yolanda and Sandra; five grandchildren Danielle, Bianca and her husband Justin, Kelsey and her husband Stephen, Jason and Stephanie; by marriage; Ulrich and wife Alma, Gretel and her husband Chris; three great grandchildren Savannah, Makennah and Ciennah; his younger brother Raoul; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, September 27 at El Camino Memorial, Sorrento Valley; 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego Ca 92121. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 5 at El Camino Memorial followed by a gathering of loved ones at 1 PM at his home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
