Gloria was a unique individual… from an early age she had a curiosity about many aspects of life, and always voraciously pursued that curiosity, reading everything she could get her hands on. She left a library of over a thousand books, everything from the Bible to a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica.
Gloria had a very varied career: she and her husband, Earl, owned a construction company that focused on projects primarily in Imperial Valley; she owned an interior design company; was the Executive Mortgage Broker for a wealthy La Jolla Real Estate magnate; and many other diverse career choices.
After the death of her husband, Earl Jesse Lee in 1976 (they were married in 1947 In New Hampshire), she became very involved with community outreach: working for Travelers Aid; Senior Services; Stamp-Out Crime (precursor to Neighborhood Watch); House of Italy; and fundraising for different charitable events.
She also steadfastly maintained her independence while living alone in her second-floor apartment for 31 years. Even in her final years, she enjoyed getting out to go shopping, attending family functions, as well as an occasional lunch or dinner out.
She loved to cook, especially dishes from the South, where her husband was born. She also collected recipes to add diversity to her repertoire, and would often share them with others.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Goodbody Mortuary, San Diego, CA.
