Born in Pottstown, PA on July 10, 1940, Mrs. Kenny graduated from Royersford High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1960. The Navy brought her to San Diego, CA, where she was stationed at the Naval Training Center, and introduced her to her late husband Robert Kenny. Robert preceded his wife in death in 1985.
In 1963, Mrs. Kenny was honorably discharged from the Navy as a YN3, Yeoman 3rd Class. After the Navy, Mrs. Kenney continued her career as a word processor for 30 years, working with various attorneys in San Diego. She retired in 2004.
In her free time, Mrs. Kenny loved dancing west coast swing, crafting cards, watching movies, visiting casinos and playing puzzles and games with family, friends and her dogs.
Mrs. Kenney is survived by her son James, her daughter-in-law Susan, grandsons Robert and Gary and granddaughter Ashlee. She is also greatly missed by her long-time family friends Geno and Elizabeth Altiery, with whom she enjoyed weekly outings, and her two senior dogs Pollie and Ramsey.
Anyone who knew Gloria also knew how much she loved dogs. For this reason, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Frosted Faces Foundation, where Gloria adopted her surviving dogs through the organization’s Seniors for Seniors program.
