El Cajon, CA. On March 16, 2016, Gloria Jean Dudley, 72, peacefully left this world to enter into eternal life with her Lord and her loved ones who have gone before her. She was a kind and gracious lady, who was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Born in Great Falls, Montana, she lived there as a child until her family relocated to Victorville, CA, in 1955. She lived in Victorville until graduating from Victor Valley High School. She then resided in Riverside, CA, with her husband and two children—Daniel, b. 1968, and Charlotte, b. 1973—until moving to San Diego in the mid 1970s.
She worked at Otay Water District for 24 years. She greatly enjoyed her retirement, lovingly tending to her house and garden in Rancho San Diego, and socializing regularly with her family and many friends.
Gloria was a devoted Catholic, a parishioner of Santa Sophia Catholic Church, Spring Valley, for many years, and then a parishioner of St Kieran Catholic Church, El Cajon, for the past 10 years. She sincerely lived her faith, and was always helping others, right until the end.
She courageously battled the cancer that eventually took her life, and spent her last few weeks in her beautiful home in the care of her close family. She was fiercely loved by all who were blessed to be in her life, and will be truly missed.
Visitation and Rosary will be Thursday, March 31, 6:00pm-7:00pm, at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 1510 Greenfield Drive, El Cajon, CA 92021.
Funeral Mass will be Friday April 1, 11:00am, also at St. Kieran Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Holy Cross Mausoleum in San Diego, California.
In lieu of flowers, Gloria requested donations be made to St. Kieran Catholic School.
Blessed are those who died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them.
Eternal rest grant Gloria, O Lord.
May she rest in peace. Amen.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
