She is preceded in death by her former spouses, Carl Zickler who was the father of her daughter Sharon, Ray Noel, Harper North, and David Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Adams, her granddaughter, Bethany Adams, her sister, Catherine Willson, numerous beloved nieces and nephews and her stepson, James North.
Frances, known as "Boots" to family members, and as "Fran" to her friends, was the youngest of ten siblings.
At age 3, her family moved from Augusta to her father's farm outside the small town of Warrenton, GA. She graduated from Warrenton High School in 1941, and in 1942 moved to Los Angeles, CA to live with two of her sisters, Mary Lee and Catherine, where she worked as a legal secretary and later as an executive secretary.
In 1975, her husband, Harper North, was transferred from California to Maryland. Fran had always had a love of music and took the opportunity to retire from working. She enrolled in the University of Maryland, earned a Bachelor's degree in Music and began her second career as a piano teacher.
She continued to teach piano until her retirement in 1996. After retirement she was very active in AAUW, continued to enjoy music, and play Mah-Jongg and Scrabble with friends.
