Esther Marie Kort

Esther Marie Kort, at the age of 95, went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2017 in San Diego, California. She was born on March 10, 1922 in Kendrick Colorado to Amelia and Jacob Lohrey. She married her beloved, Alfred William Kort Jr., on September 27, 1947 after returning from serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific as a Seabee. They lived in Aurora, Illinois until moving to Chula Vista, California in 1968. Alfred passed away on October 18, 1998. Esther has two surviving siblings, Rose Stanek, and David Lohrey. Her other siblings included: Josephine, Jack, Reuben, and Kathleen. Her children are: Kathleen Mahony of Wildomar, California, Alan Kort of San Diego, California, and Gale Ward who passed away on February 8, 2007. Esther also has a very devoted daughter-in-law and sons-in-law. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Esther was a joy to all who knew her and she had an impact on everyone's life. When anyone came into her home they always felt loved and welcomed. She enjoyed beautiful hymns and other types of music. Baking and cooking were things she excelled in. Esther was also a volunteer in her children's schools. Services will be held at El Camino Memorial on August 31, 2017 at 3:30 in the afternoon. The burial will be at the Riverside National Cemetery on September 7, 2017 at 1:30 pm. We will miss her and carry her memory in our hearts forever.
